We live in France for 6 months of the year, and the UK for the other 6 months. Is there any way I can get broadband in the UK and only pay for the 6 months I am there? Which is the best short term broadband provider?
Patricia Milton, France/UK
After giving your conundrum some thought, we felt that your best bet would be to go with Plusnet's packages 1, 2 or 3.
We recommend this because:
- Plusnet has a one month minimum contract, so you can cancel at the end of 6 months and not incur a penalty.
- Plusnet Package 1, 2 and 3 all include Line Rental and home phone call packages
- Plusnet are an extremely reliable provider (in fact we use Plusnet at the Choose offices)
- Plusnet's broadband packages are very good value for money
The downside is that you will have to pay a £40 connection charge when you sign up (this is to cover their expenses if you leave within a year) and you will have to supply your own router/modem. You will naturally have to pay this £40 every time you come back to the UK, but that will be your only expense.
You can see the prices and specifications, as well as our own review for each package here:
