DEMON broadband have launched a new broadband deal packed with gaming-friendly features including low latency, traffic prioritisation and unlimited downloads off-peak.
Demon Game Pro [Ed: package no longer available] is available for the special launch price of £21.99 with a 12 month contract until the end of October.
The broadband deal is also available on a three month rolling contract basis for £23.99 a month with a £29.99 connection fee.
This makes it by far the most flexible Demon deal. The provider's Home Broadband and HomeOffice Broadband both require customers to sign up to a 24-month contract.
Game Pro also includes number of features that have become standard with other providers but have been missing for years at Demon: a wireless router is included free and there's a very generous 100GB usage allowance.
The company has also included unlimited downloads off-peak, an idea pioneered by Plusnet.
Matt Cantwell, Head of Demon, commented, "We know how important a good broadband connection is to the gaming community, and we are excited to be launching this product which has been designed to meet the specific needs of gamers.
"At Demon we appreciate that a better connection allows better gaming, and are confident that gamers will see the benefits that this service offers them."
Gaming broadband
Demon's Game Pro joins the ranks of dedicated gaming broadband deals Plusnet Pro and Be Pro.
Both promise to reduce jitter (i.e. provide consistent ping rates) which interferes with online gameplay and offer dedicated, specialised support.
Superfast up to 50Mb broadband from Virgin Media - Virgin Media XXL - is also popular with gamers since it's both the UK's fastest broadband deal and comes without any restrictions on traffic.
Other Virgin Media broadband deals are subject to a fairly harsh traffic management policy.
Demon will be seeking to gain some valuable exposure amongst gamers by sponsoring the Insomnia40 event (the so-called "Glastonbury of Gaming") at the end of the month.
