AS part of its continued drive for new customers, O2 Broadband has slashed the price of all its broadband packages by £5 per month for non-O2 mobile customers signing up before 30th April 2008.
O2 Broadband’s new price structure means you could get an up to 20Mb broadband connection for only £20 per month!
Also on offer are up to 8Mb and 16Mb broadband packages priced at £12.50 and £15 per month respectively.
This makes the O2 broadband packages very competitive when comparing price and speed with other broadband providers.
If you compare broadband speeds then O2 Broadband is one of the playground bullies.
O2 owns Be Broadband and utilises their ADSL2+ network to deliver bruisingly high-speed broadband to those who live in an O2 area.
There are currently around 14.1 million homes in enabled areas so there is a good chance you’ll be amongst them.
New Prices
O2’s recent entry into the broadband market has caused a bit of a stir. It’s offering a really high speed broadband service for a really low speed price.
Before 1st January the three different packages available on O2 were, (up to) 8 Mb, 16 Mb and 20 Mb priced at £17.50, £20 and £25 per month respectively. O2 Mobile contract holders were also receiving a hefty £10 discount every month, although this has now effectively been reduced to £5 for the duration of this offer.
O2 vs Be
The price cut means O2 Broadband's Standard package is cheaper than Be’s almost identical Be Value package making it a really good choice for light users.
Heavier users should look at Be's Unlimited package as it still works out cheaper and faster than O2 Broadband's Ultimate package.
That said, O2 Broadband is still in its honeymoon period and so prospective customers can really take advantage of the various offers O2 are handing out.
For a head-to-head comparison of who would win in a fight: Be or O2 Broadband, read Julie Kukiewicz's comparison of the two high-speed broadband services.
Those of you who have already signed up to O2 Broadband need not despair! The price drop will be retrospective meaning existing customers will be migrated to the new cheaper tariff from 1st February.
