ORANGE Broadband customers have the chance to turn their friends green with envy as it becomes the latest broadband provider to radically lower its broadband prices.
Orange has slashed the price of two of its most popular broadband packages by 50% for the first six months
Similar broadband price cuts
The move follows similar price cuts by big Broadband players such as Tiscali, Virgin Media and O2 Broadband.
Orange’s offer is set to last until the end of March 2008 and offers customers the chance to save by as much as £144 in the first year with the Orange Broadband Home Max package and £36 in the first year with the Orange Broadband Home Starter package.
The 2 Mbps Orange Broadband Home Starter package is just £6 a month for the first six months, or £12 a month for the 8 Mbps Orange Broadband Home Max package.
The lesser known Orange Broadband Home Select is £10 a month, rather than £20, for the duration of the contract if taken with Orange 18 or 24 month mobile phone plan.
The Orange broadband offer does not affect broadband customers who already save because they have 18 or 24 month Orange mobile contracts or customers who choose the Orange Broadband Home Select package.
A New Beginning for Orange?
The announcement could add up to a new beginning for Orange Broadband.
The ISP has been dogged by negative feedback on its service since it was formed. This culminated in Orange limping into last place in a BBC Watchdog consumer satisfaction broadband poll in early 2007.
Since then Orange Broadband has made a big effort to improve its shoddy reputation for quality and consistency of service.
Recently they came fifth in an Epitiro survey of UK broadband providers.
Broadband consumers are sure to be attracted by Orange Broadband’s tiny new introductory prices. We’re crossing our fingers that they don’t get disappointed.
