CHEAP broadband provider Tiscali has reduced contract lengths on all of their broadband packages in a bid to win back the custom of broadband users afraid of commitment.

Until now, Tiscali broadband customers have had to sign up to the Tiscali broadband packages and bundles for a full 18 months, but the troubled has been hit hard by customer defections and lower broadband sales.

”Whether or not the 18 month contract was the cause of Tiscali’s falling numbers is an unknown, but it surely wasn’t helping,” says Bruce Stevens, Broadband Technology Editor at broadband comparison site ChooseISP.

“With high speed broadband already being trialled in Kent and plans for much higher speeds across the board in 2008 – Virgin Media’s 50Mb cable broadband for example – savvy broadband users are reluctant to commit to a provider that may not offer the best deals a few months down the line.

“Certainly, a year and a half is a long time to be tied in to a single broadband provider,” he added.

Tiscali free line rental

In addition to reduced contracts, Tiscali have added free line rental into one of their Tiscali TV, broadband and phone bundles.

Unfortunately the bundle’s monthly price has risen from £17.99 to £19.99, but this is still remarkably good value, if you consider line rental alone costs £11.

Tiscali offer a wide range of broadband, phone and television bundles, all with 8mb broadband speeds.

Tiscali’s broadband deals

There are three Tiscali broadband packages on offer:

Tiscali Broadband Option 1 costs just £6.49 a month (rising to a still respectable £12.99 after three months), and comes with a free wireless router and setup fees waived.

Tiscali Broadband Option 2 costs £8.49 a month for the first three months, rising to £14.99 thereafter. This option also includes 10GB monthly usage, and a free wireless router.

Tiscali Broadband Option 3 is great for customers who want unlimited monthly usage, costing just £9.49 a month for the first three months, with a rise to only £17.99 afterwards.
