THEY may have joined the mobile broadband party a little late in the day, but it’s served them well and Virgin Media have burst onto the scene with a single mobile broadband package.
But don’t get stuck into believing a company should have many different mobile broadband deals in order to be good. Virgin Media has pitched itself perfectly here, offering a mobile broadband deal that should suit all but the lightest or heaviest of users.
Usage Allowance
The Virgin Media Mobile Broadband package offers a very respectable 3GB usage limit, with an annoying, but par-for-the-course £15 for every extra GB you go over the limit.
This works out at about 13p per extra MB.
Free USB Modem
Virgin Media Mobile Broadband provides a free USB modem using the same technology as T-Mobile’s excellent T-Mobile Modem Stick.
How fast is Virgin Media Mobile Broadband?
You can theoretically receive speeds of up to 4.5Mbps, but realistically you probably won’t get much faster than 2Mbps when ‘out in the field’, so to speak.
That said, Virgin Media have done themselves a big favour by piggybacking on the rump of T-Mobile, as our tests reveal T-Mobile – and thus Virgin Media Mobile Broadband – offers the fastest and most reliable mobile broadband speeds.
