Good Value for Money

Vodafone's monthly packages offer good value for money in comparison with other providers and you won't have to pay more when you take a shorter contract.

However, if you're looking for more flexibility Vodafone's own 'Top Up and Go' services work out the same price - just £5 per GB.

Unfortunately, if you do go over your usage limit you'll pay the £15 rate for every extra GB but if you choose the right deal this shouldn't be a problem.

There are also some attractive introductory price offers available. The 3GB 24 month package, for example, offers the first three months for just £5.

In fact, Vodafone's mobile broadband prices also compare favourably with other providers who tend to offer very similar prices but without the special offers or the fast speeds.

Speedy

Vodafone also claims to be one of the fastest mobile broadband providers on the market offering speeds of up to 7.2Mb: that's twice as fast as the majority of mobile broadband providers.

Whether or not you can receive those speeds will depend on the strength of the signal available in your area but it certainly bodes well that Vodafone are leading the way.

Since Vodafone mobile broadband coverage can vary around the country it is vital that you check that the area where you'll usually be using this service before you sign up.

3GB, 4GB or 5GB?

Vodafone's mobile broadband packages offer a choice between 3, 4 and 5GB deals.

Neither of those is going to be suitable for particularly heavy use but for light use (i.e: browsing websites and using email) they should be fine.

Here's a few facts to help you decide what you need: 1 GB is approximately (yes, approximately - don't ask us why) 1000 MB.

An hour of web browsing could use up to 25 MB so that's 40 hours.

However, while 120 hours on a Vodafone 3GB package and 200 hours the 5GB package might seem like a lot once you start opening emails, streaming content or opening and downloading files your allowance could disappear faster than, well, something really fast.

Opening plain text emails doesn't use up very much more space than web pages but an hour of streaming video content on Iplayer or Youtube could use up to 500 MB.

A Free Dongle

Since you're paying monthly we'd expect nothing less but it's still nice to get a free dongle isn't it?

Vodafone's dongle also doubles as a handy 4GB memory stick so that's doubly nice.

The 5GB packages come with a slightly higher spec modem, the 'Pro', which should give you slightly higher upload speeds - particularly useful if you'll be using your mobile broadband for sending emails or uploading a lot of information online.

The longer the commitment, the better value for money with Vodafone's pay monthly mobile broadband but if you're the marryin' kind they offer great speeds for light broadband users.
