Post Office Extra Broadband (& Phone Bundle)Independent review with up to date prices, details and special offers for this package...
Post Office broadband review: ExtraEXTRA! Extra! ... It's Post Office Broadband Extra. The extra Post Office broadband are talking about is unlimited monthly downloads (Post Office Standard has an allowance of just 5GB) which accompanies their high speed internet habit and stamp-issuing, rural-outpost-closing reputation. Free setup and free wireless router Though Post Office Broadband Extra offers the same 8Mb speed as Post Office Standard, its major pull lies in unlimited monthly downloads (fair usage policy applies). For your monthly payment you'll also get your hands on a free wireless router and no setup fees when you sign up online. Note that this is a Direct Debit price. Other payment methods for monthly billing will nudge the price up by a Pound. 50MB of webspace too But for those of us who want a little something more, Post Office Broadband Extra also offers enhanced parental security and 50MB of webspace. So, you can filter out the undesirables from your child's online experience and show off your latest achievements via your own blog space or portfolio in one fell swoop. The free webspace you get with Post Office Broadband alone could save you a few quid per month if you are currently paying for hosting service elsewhere. Not the cheapest broadband deal Unfortunately, Post Office Broadband Extra doesn't offer anything unique which could be considered leaps and bounds better and there are plenty of other unlimited broadband deals which are cheaper. For example, Virgin Media broadband L and O2 broadband standard are just £12.50 and if you have an O2 mobile you can get O2 standard for just £7.50. Just BT in disguise? But many believe what sets Post Office Broadband apart from its competitors in the ISP market place has more to do with peace of mind. Since Post Office Broadband is actually managed by BT, some will conclude that any issues you may experience would be quickly resolved and you will pay less for what is essentially the same service that BT Broadband offers. Post Office Broadband Extra comes in a full £4 cheaper than BT's branded comparable offering. Broadband & Phone bundles available If you prefer to have your home telephone and broadband wrapped up into one nice bill, you might consider Post Office HomePhone with Broadband Extra to make the services more cost effective. Despite the fact that Post Office line rental is actually more expensive than BT's, switching your home phone deal to the Post Office with your broadband will save you £7.30 a month: that's £87.60 a year. This bundled package offers line rental, free 60 minute calls to your friends and family at Christmas, free calls to other Post Office phone customers and a 10% discount every time you ring one of your top 10 most called numbers. And the regular phone rates are reasonable too. Daytime calls are just 3.92p per minute. Cheaper than BT's equivalent In short, Post Office Broadband Extra gives you everything you need to hop on line and start running, albeit at a slightly higher cost than you might source elsewhere - but still cheaper than the BT broadband package it mirrors!.
