Sky Broadband, TV and Phone BundlesIndependent review with up to date prices, details and special offers for this package...
Sky broadband review: Broadband, TV and Phone BundlesSPECIAL OFFERS: £25 M&S voucher when you join any package online. LONG before Virgin Media and BT muscled in on the scene, Sky were the very first provider to offer broadband, phone and TV bundles. Their range of See, Speak & Surf bundles still lead the way to this day, offering exceptionally good value and an almost unparalleled number of bundle options. Sky Broadband For the broadband part of the bundle you have two choices: Everyday Lite and Unlimited and those names are pretty accurate descriptions of the service that each one offers. Everyday Lite most generous connection available - with a monthly usage allowance of 2GB - but it'll be more than ample for basic web browsing and emailing. Everyday Lite broadband is a free addition to the bundle so it's well worth a whirl even if you rarely get online. If you keep going over your download limit Sky will politely ask you to move up a step but they're less gentlemanly about moving you down (funny that). So if you're a light user but can't decide how much allowance you need we'd advise you to go for 2GB and see how you get on. If you're a heavy internet user you'd be best off with Sky's Unlimited broadband deal with completely unlimited downloads. And we do mean completely. Sky is one of the few broadband providers not to practice traffic management so you won't get your service throttled for downloading too much. All Sky broadband provides speeds of up to 20Mb. Sky Call Plans Sky's FreeTime, which gives you free evening and weekend calls to all UK landlines, is Sky's bundled home phone add-on and, like Base broadband, it's completely gratis. However, keep in mind that while you get your off-peak phonecalls included in the price, you will have to pay line rental to Sky. At £11 a month per month, though, it's cheaper than BT's. You could also opt for the Sky Unlimited phone option - that'll give you free anytime calls to UK landlines and 20 international destinations including Australia, the US and France. Note that, like the BT equivalent, 'inclusive' calls are only those which last up to an hour. Sky TV The 'See' part of the Sky package is your TV, and you'll get all the free-to-air channels you'd find on freeview plus the choice of up to 6 TV Packs, Sky Sports and/or Sky Movies at an extra monthly cost. The prices we're displaying at the bottom of this page are based on selecting just 1 TV pack (i.e. the bare minimum) but remember that you can add on extra channels without adding too much to your monthly price. Extra Sky TV packs are an extra £1 a month each and specialist channels are slightly more. Sky Sports is available as an add on from £9, although this get's cheaper if you choose 4 or more TV packs and Sky Movies is available from £8, again this gets cheaper when you take out 4 or more TV packs. You'll also get a free Sky+ HD box when you sign up and the £30 set-up fee will be waived. The only way around this is to sign up for one of the - slightly more pricey - Sky broadband, phone and TV in HD bundles which chucks in the HD box for free.
