WE have to declare that we love the Sky broadband bundles, which allow you to mix and match a selection of broadband, phone and TV elements to create the kind of package that suits any budget and any TV taste.

Fantastic combination

This Sky See, Speak & Surf Mid 1 broadband bundle is a fantastic combination that is pocket friendly and very good value.

Want broadband? Here you get the Sky Mid package which offers super-fast speeds of up to 8Mb with a hefty monthly usage allowance of 40Gb.

Now, we're yet to see a normal web user come close to this kind of usage, but really heavy users who want unlimited downloads should rather go for a Sky 'Max' bundle which gives unlimited downloads.

Off-peak calls

The home phone option bundled with this Sky package is Sky's FreeTime, which gives you free evening and weekend calls to all UK landlines. Call costs at other times are on a par with BT's call rates.

Remember that you'll still need to pay your line rental fee to BT (£11.75), which is something you should mentally add to the cost of this package if you are comparing it to, say, the Virgin Media 3-for-£30 which does not require line rental.

2 TV mixes

The 'See' part of the package is your Sky TV choice and here you get to choose 2 'mixes' - as Sky likes to call them.

This means you choose 2 of the available 6 mix of packages which are made up of:
- Variety
- News & Events
- Kids
- Music
- Knowledge
- Style & Culture

Remember, you can easily add up to 4 more Sky TV mixes to this bundle if you like, at just £1 per bundle each.

Add sports and movies

You can optionally add Sky Sports and/or Sky Movies to your TV package each month too, starting at just 50p per day. You can also, if you wish, buy a Sky+ box (currently £99) which lets you pause, rewind or record live TV.

The Sky+ subscription has now been scrapped so it is just a once-off fee.

And, if you've recently got your mitts on a nice HD-ready TV, you'd do well to plump for a Sky HD box which offers everything the Sky+ box offers, but delivers your TV in glorious, eye-popping high definition (four times sharper than regular TV).

This bundle package from Sky gets a hearty two-thumbs up from us.
