WHILE See, Speak & Surf has such a nice ring to it, sometimes you don't really want to speak, do you?
Saves a bundle
This Sky See & Surf Base 2 broadband bundle offers free fast broadband and fantastic TV, but drops the home phone option, saving you a bundle, but unfortunately also nudging the setup cost to £60 instead of £30 if you take broadband, TV and phone.
Since the Sky broadband is free, you are actually only paying for the TV part of the package.
The free broadband part of this Sky package is the speedy Sky Mid broadband which gives speeds of up to 8Mb with a generous monthly usage allowance of 40Gb.
Unless you really need unlimited downloads (in which case, opt for Sky's 'Max' version of this package) this should be more than enough.
Excellent TV choice
The 'See' part of this two-part Sky free broadband package is your TV choice, and here you get all six of Sky's 'mixes':
- Variety
- News & Events
- Music
- Knowledge
- Kids
- Style & Culture
Being the flexible package that this is, you can drop any of these mixes and save a pound a month for each one you lose. But at such a low rate, it hardly seems worth dropping any of them.
There is always the option to add Sky Sports and/or Sky Movies to your TV package, but there is an extra monthly cost for this (about 50p per day).
Optional Sky+ box
Other optional extras include a Sky+ Box, or the more expensive Sky HD Box which works just like the Sky+ but also delivers your TV picture in crisp high definition.
There is a small monthly charge the HD service though and it'll only work on HD ready TV sets, but if you want to count the blades of grass on a football pitch, or see Cameron Diaz's pock-mark cover-up, it's a price well worth paying.
Value for money
As a TV and broadband-only bundle package this offering from Sky is great value for money, but keep in mind the need for line rental in order to receive it, especially when comparing the price to Virgin Media's equivalent offering.
