IT'S easy to see why Toucan have come up against a lot of stick for their rather liberal interpretation of the word 'unlimited'.
Not so unlimited
All Toucan 8Mb packages - for those who don't read the smallprint - are unlimited at all times except between the peak hours of 6pm to 11pm each evening, where you are restricted to 1GB of data usage per week.
For heavier web users (or those who enjoy a bit of online radio) it's not difficult to see how this could be exceeded and even clearer to see why a rabble of angry users want to see Toucan sent back to the tropics!
Passable
But if you are willing to live within the rather restrictive confines of Toucan's fair use policy (and Toucan's reportedly awful customer service), the 8Mb Broadband and ToucanTalk All-You-Can package is just about passable.
On the broadband side you'll get up to 8Mb speeds with free modem and free setup, but as part of Toucan's bundled phonecall package unlimited calls to UK landlines at any time.
Cheap line rental
However in order to get this package you must take your line rental with Toucan.
This is not a bad thing at all, as Toucan's low cost line rental is currently the cheapest on the market.
